Altered Reflections is an enigmatic exploration of identity in an age of rapid technological transformation. A screen, reminiscent of an ordinary mirror, captures the viewer’s gaze, reflecting their face back in real-time. Yet, beneath the surface, something begins to change. Slowly, almost imperceptibly, the familiar visage transforms—blurring the boundaries of gender, ethnicity, and age. The reflection, both strange and intimate, moves in perfect synchrony, maintaining the illusion of self even as it becomes other.
As the reflection gradually returns to its original form, a sense of transformation and return emerges. This journey makes the viewer more aware of the arbitrariness of their identity, encouraging empathy as well as appreciation of their own uniqueness.
Altered Reflections blends technology and introspection, using AI to explore the fluid nature of identity and the balance between progress and continuity. It draws visitors into an intimate experience of recognition and transformation, encouraging them to contemplate their place in an ever-evolving world.
